Dr. Stybel received his Ed.D. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in organizational behavior and his M.A. in clinical psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, where he started his career as a clinician. He works with patients struggling with social anxiety, depression, and career related challenges. He practices in the Boston office.
Dr. Stybel brings decades of experience in career management counseling and career success coaching to OptiMindHealth. He is the coauthor of Navigating the Waterfall (Bruce Farr Creative Publishing, 2016), with Maryanne Peabody, and is the founder of Stybel Peabody Associates, a firm dedicated to enhancing the success of management level and senior level business and professional executives. He publishes a monthly newsletter entitled “Platform for Success: the making of great leaders” for Psychology Today magazine.
Dr. Stybel approaches psychotherapy for his patients from a cognitive behavioral framework. Other approaches he uses include social systems thinking, design thinking, and he also draws on psychoanalytic perspectives in his work.
