OMH staff psychologist Dr. Enzo Finore will be speaking at a Cambridge Health Alliance / Harvard Medical School teaching conference in Boston on Friday December 9th 2016. The conference will be held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Dr. Finore will join other mental health specialists in the field in a two day long course entitled “Assessing and Treating Self-Destructive Behaviors” offered as an update on the latest research findings and clinical applications in the field.

He will be presenting on treating skin picking and hair pulling disorders. His presentation will describe the particular characteristics of these two body focused repetitive behaviors, describing their diagnosis, how they are distinguished from obsessive compulsive disorders, and discussing their emotional effects on those who struggle with them.

Dr. Finore will also discuss the various treatment approaches he favors for psychological treatment for these issues, such as habit reversal training, emotional regulation therapies, cognitive behavioral therapies, comprehensive model intervention and hypnosis.
